Lemon Drop Martini: Why Limit Happy To An Hour?

My friend Greg and I get together occasionally for a cocktail; more importantly, it’s an excuse to catch up. During this Sunday afternoon visit, we made our version of a Lemon Drop Martini, which paired well with some harmless gossip. The Lemon Drop is as close to perfect as a drink can get, not too sweet with just enough of a bite. However, there is one problem with the cocktail, and that is that there is a 2-drink minimum.

Lemon Drop Martini

Granulated sugar, for the rim
2 oz lemon vodka
1/2 oz Cointreau
1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz maple syrup
Lemon twist, for garnish

PREPARATION:

Step 1:
Take your lemon wedge and gently rub it on 1/2 of the rim of your cocktail glass. Roll the juiced edge in the sugar; you should have 1/2 of a sugared rim.

Step 2:
Add the vodka, Cointreau, lemon juice and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Place the lid on the shaker, and give a vigorous shake.

Step 3:
Strain into your prepared glass and enjoy!
